A Message from the President

It is with great pride that I share this message with you today as President and founding member of the New Brunswick Business Immigrant Association. NBBIA was first launched in 2018 by a group of seven founding members, all of whom had recently immigrated to New Brunswick with the same goal – to do business as an entrepreneur. We quickly realized upon arrival that being in a new country meant we would face challenges, including new systems unfamiliar to us.

Doing business in a new country was an exciting dream, but the questions were many. It was decided by our seven founding members we would create NBBIA, a registered non-profit member-based association that would be accessible to all immigrant entrepreneurs across New Brunswick both in urban and rural areas.

As immigrants, we understand first-hand the difficulties that newcomers face upon arrival in New Brunswick. NBBIA is dedicated to aid and support our members by assisting them in establishing the new networks they will need to pursue business opportunities. I personally wish to welcome you and encourage you to become an active and engaged member of NBBIA. We will guide and assist you in navigating your immigration entrepreneurial journey in the most prosperous and successful ways, sharing with you the lessons we learned along the way.

A Message from the Executive Director

I am very excited to welcome you to New Brunswick, our small but exceptional province situated on the eastern maritime coast of Canada.

I have been working with newcomers to New Brunswick for over fifteen-years, first with international students and then for the past twelve years with immigrant entrepreneurs. I understand the challenges that those new to our country face in the first few years after arrival.

With the settlement of the family, becoming familiar with the culture and learning about the professional business systems that are often very different from what you are used to in your home country, it helps to have someone who understands you. NBBIA is your beacon, a place where you will be introduced to entrepreneurs from around the world who have also chosen to live and do business in New Brunswick. Our goals, among many, are to help you in feeling welcomed, supported, and trusted. We understand the meaningful contributions you will make to our communities and the value and richness your culture and global perspectives will bring.

We will assist in addressing your individual and unique needs as an entrepreneur in New Brunswick and through our membership you will have greater access to the business eco-system, training programs and learning events we will be offering. We also introduce you to peer mentors who have experienced the immigration journey. NBBIA is here for you, a professional provincial network to offer all immigrant business owners one collective voice.

Our mandate is to create the most positive experience for you as you arrive and settle in New Brunswick. I am looking forward to meeting with you soon!
